M W Slade & Son are fourth generation family builders, currently run by Mike Slade MCIOB and his son Chris, combining decades of experience. As a well respected company based in the Somerton/Martock area, but covering all of Somerset, the company prides itself on its quality of work, attention to detail and ability to undertake any scale of project. The company considers it a priority to work closely with clients to ensure projects are delivered both to budget and in compliance with a pre-arranged time schedule. The company is a member of the National House building Council (NHBC), guaranteeing all new-build projects, and the Federation of Master Builders (FMB), thus providing clients with total peace of mind. In addition to the information on this website, a portfolio of work, letters of recommendation, certificates and sample plans can be provided on request. Mike is from the third generation of this well known local family of Builders. He left school at 15 and whilst in the family business he attended Somerset College of Arts and Technology qualifying as a Chartered Builder (M.C.I.O.B) after passing ONC, HNC and Endorsements.
Mike Slade
Mike has clear and in-depth knowledge of all aspects of architecture and construction derived from experience spanning well over forty years. During this time he has designed and built large housing projects as well as directing and project-managing diversities such as The Royal Bath and West Showground’s Grandstand , subsequently opened by HRH Prince Charles, and the British Farm Food Fair Building, opened by HRH Princess Margaret.
Chris Slade
Chris, Mike Slade’s son, joined the Company as a partner in 2003 and has 13 years experience in the building industry. He began by attending Bridgwater College where he gained qualifications in Advance bricklaying, during which time he was awarded ‘ Best Apprentice’. He has since expanded his experience and qualifications with lime mortar courses and working with natural stone. In addition Chris is a qualified CTA plant operative and scaffolder, and has attended numerous other courses.
